What we do

Deterministic calculators for traditional divination systems.

Each tool is a deterministic function: a birth date in, a reflective reading out, drawn from a named tradition. Same date, same reading — every time. You can verify the math against the source we cite on every tool page.

What we don't do

  • No predictions. Readings are for reflection.
  • No account, email, or signup required.
  • Your birth date stays in your browser — never sent, never logged.
  • No medical, legal, financial, fertility, or psychological advice.
  • No invented systems. We follow each tradition's most-taught lineage.

How we approach divination

Four principles, applied to every tool.

Reflective, not predictive

Readings are invitations to think, not forecasts. We treat divination as a structured language for noticing patterns — never as a prediction of events.

Tradition-cited

Every tool names its lineage — Pythagorean, Rider-Waite-Smith, tropical, lunar — and links the authoritative source so you can verify the math yourself.

Browser-only by design

Calculations run in JavaScript that ships with the page. Your birth date is never sent to a server, never logged, never in a URL. Open dev tools and confirm.

No signup, no tracking cookies

No account, no email, no signup. Our analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) is cookieless and doesn’t identify you. If we add ads later, a consent banner ships first.

Our tools

Four free tools. Two ready, two coming.

Two tools are live now — pick one and you'll have a reading in under a minute. Daily Tarot and Chinese Zodiac land next, followed by compatibility, three-card spread, feng shui Kua, angel numbers, name numerology, moon phase, and a full birth chart with moon and rising signs.

Standards

What you can hold us to.

We've published these as commitments on every tool page. They are not just things we'd like to do — they are the conditions under which we'll allow a tool to ship at all.

  • Every engine has a published methodology you can read in our source code (the site is open about how each calculation works — for example, the Life Path engine preserves master numbers 11, 22, and 33 following the Pythagorean lineage taught by Dan Millman).
  • Every tool page links to an authoritative external reference for the tradition (Wikipedia entries, NASA JPL ephemeris, IAU constellation boundaries, the Hong Kong Observatory lunar table).
  • Every tool page includes a 6–10-question FAQ with FAQPage structured data, so common questions are visible to humans and to search engines.
  • Every tool page repeats the entertainment-and-reflection disclaimer in four places (under the hero, above the result, in the footer, and at /disclaimer/) — meeting the visibility requirements of New York Penal Law §165.35 and the ACCC guidance on misleading conduct.
  • We respect prefers-reduced-motion, target ≥44px tap targets on mobile, and aim for WCAG 2.2 AA contrast on every text block.
  • We do not make medical, legal, financial, fertility, or psychological claims. Crisis hotlines for the US, UK, and Australia are listed on the disclaimer page.

About Explain Fate — questions

What this site is, what it isn't, and how it stays honest.

What is Explain Fate?

Explain Fate is a free, ad-light website that builds calculators for traditional divination systems — tarot, astrology, numerology, feng shui, and Chinese zodiac. Every tool returns a reflective reading drawn from the tradition it follows. We treat results as material for reflection, never as predictions of future events.

Is Explain Fate free? Are there ads?

Yes — free, no signup, no ads at launch. If we add display ads later, a compliant cookie-consent banner ships the same day, and we announce it in our newsletter first. We earn small commissions on affiliate links to Amazon, Keen, and Sage Goddess; these are disclosed wherever they appear.

Do you store my birth date?

No. Every calculation on Explain Fate runs in your browser using JavaScript that ships with each page. Your birth date is never transmitted to our servers, never logged, and never included in a URL. You can verify this by opening your browser dev tools and watching the network panel while you submit the form — nothing is sent.

How do you decide which tradition to follow for each tool?

The most-taught lineage of each: Pythagorean numerology (Dan Millman), tropical Western astrology (equinox-anchored), Rider-Waite-Smith tarot (public domain since 2021), and lunar Chinese zodiac (Hong Kong Observatory ephemeris). Every tool page names the tradition and links the authoritative source.

Will you add more tools?

Yes. Next up: Daily Tarot and Chinese Zodiac, followed by compatibility synastry, three-card spread, feng shui Kua, angel numbers, name numerology, moon phase, and the birth chart's moon + rising upgrade. We ship one tool at a time, never before its content is ready.

Is this entertainment, advice, or something else?

Entertainment and reflection only. Nothing on Explain Fate is medical, legal, financial, fertility, or psychological advice. If you are facing a decision in any of those areas, please consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction. Our full disclaimer, including crisis-line numbers for the US (988), UK (Samaritans 116 123), and Australia (Lifeline 13 11 14), is at /disclaimer/.
